"I am a painter and designer of graphics from Seattle, WA. I create art for the story behind the image. I feel like my art is most successful when it helps spark a conversation or an emotion with the viewer. A lot of my paintings are based on childhood experiences as well as my overwhelming need to treat life as an adventure and enjoy every moment of it. After losing my younger brother in January of 2014, my outlook on life changed dramatically and I have been actively pursuing my passion for creating while looking to memories of him as inspiration for my latest work. With the support of my fans, friends, and family I am able to continue to create my unique brand of art and push forward with new projects that challenge me to stay adventurous and think outside the box."

"Synapse"

Trabant Coffee & the Seattle Arts Coalition present:

"Synapse" (White Charcoal + Paper)
by Grace Matsumoto of Tiny Fat Bird

syn·apse ˈsinˌaps/ noun: synapse; plural noun: synapses 1. a junction between two nerve cells, consisting of a minute gap across which impulses pass by diffusion of a neurotransmitter.

"In these pieces I am marking time, beats of my heart, moving my hand across a page. I am marking memories, moments & light, each dash one moment in time that was and is gone, and everything in me at that moment reaching out from a starting point into a pattern of growth, a period of time, made solid by marks on a page. This meditative & quiet process is something I hope to express in all my work, in metal or on paper." ~ Grace

Every morning I’d wake up with a new heartbreak, as I emptied out the jar of dead fireflies.
But every night I was still so ecstatic capturing them,
and somehow just leaving them outside didn’t feel like an option.

They’ve always captivated me

Precious, Alien,
Short lived, numerous,
Powerful, vulnerable,
Passing, armored

Unlike your company,
I can keep them in a jar

But like your company,
They don’t last long.
Or at least as long as I’d like.

All the sticks and leaves and water-soaked cotton balls in the world
Won’t make either of you stay forever

But I can try to fake it

"The Art of Jacob Wayne"
Social Pop Surrealism in acrylic

Opening reception:
Saturday, 13 June from 6-9pm

Also showing during the Georgetown Carnival the same day from noon-10pm!

"My strongest ability is in Traditional Painting, in the style of what I would define as Social Pop Surrealism and a somewhat alla prima style with acrylics. Since beginning in 2004 I've participated in festivals, galleries, and organized events. I've also displayed work in different establishments, designed various media projects and my own art book, murals for local businesses, Sold pieces internationally, and also networked local artists for events in communities that I've lived. In 2008 I graduated from Utah State University with a BA in Asian Studies & a Minor in Chinese. Afterwards I taught at a High School in Hangzhou, China for a year and now I'm working in Seattle, WA." ~ Jacob

When I was a kid and my parents wouldn’t buy me a teddy bear, I cried. Not because I didn’t get what I wanted, but because I had told the teddy he had a home with me and that I would keep him safe, and I had let him down. Even now, when I don’t want to give it credence, I feel a twinge: this object has a soul. A character. A vacuum tube that passed inspection in 1936. A stranger’s perfect handwriting. Lost glasses, smashed headphones, half of a lawn ornament. Keys, oh so many keys to doors I will never find. They are tiny mysteries and tiny kindnesses: finding homes for abandoned objects. I pick them up.

"Prophesy of the Goldfinch: The Art of Evan Amarante Soares"

Opening Reception:
Saturday, 11 April from 6-9pm

Having returned to Seattle in 2011, Evan now works as a graphic designer in the software industry and as an independent artist whenever possible.

Evan’s work has been described as “secretive and cryptic” and also “kinda tattoo-lookin’.”

His latest poster series, Prophecy of the Goldfinch, is an experiment in illustrative storytelling that draws subject matter from an imagined mythology of his own creation and the incomplete odyssey of an unnamed goldfinch-like creature.
