The Seattle Arts Coalition is having our first official fundraiser! It will coincide with the Georgetown Street Fair the 2nd Saturday in June, and we'll be hosted by the generous folks at Krab Jab Studio.

"We Art The Art!"

We are currently looking for:
1. Artists and artisans who would like to vend at Krab Jab during the Fair (all proceeds go to you, the artist, unless you'd like to donate to the cause)
2. Artists who would like to donate original work or limited edition prints to the silent auction (art donations will be tax-deductible and all proceeds go to the SAC)
3. Local businesses who would like to donate merchandise or services for our raffle (we'll include you as sponsors on our press releases)

The Seattle Arts Coalition is putting on another Arts & Crafts Faire at Trabant Coffee & Chai in Pioneer Square! Saturday, 8 February from noon-4pm! Awesome art, jewellery, cards, and more by local artists! Come find something unique and handmade for your special someone(s) just in time for Valentines Day!

February is the hearty month! A collection of artists have put together works based on two different shapes, (an anatomical heart and a graphic heart lovingly laser crafted by Bellevue Fine Art Reproduction), meant to showcase their experience of that whole love thing; known on the internet as the mathematical equation "< 3" or ♥.

CALL FOR ART: "Less Than Three" (The Heart Show)

The snowflake show from December was so much fun that we've decided to do another ornament exhibit for Valentine's month! Sponsored by Braden and Rachel of the Seattle Arts Coalition, we present: "Less Than Three [ ♥ ]"

***THIS IS THE OFFICIAL CALL FOR ART***

The materials:
Laser cut hearts (provided by us, c/o Bellevue Fine Art Reproduction )
Ribbon for hanging (provided by us)
Your imagination (be creative and have fun!)

The challenge:
Create your own unique heart(s)!
(Up to 4 per artist)

There will be two shapes, an anatomical heart and a graphic heart. The only stipulation is that you use one or both of the original heart ornaments as the base of your creation, and that they can hang from a ribbon on a wall so that we can display them at the 1st Thursday Art Walk. (This doesn't mean your design has to be 1-sided or even flat; feel free to 360 it!)

HEARTS AVAILABLE:
Tuesday, 14 January at Trabant Coffee and Chai in Pioneer Square

ART DROP OFF DATE:
On or before Wednesday, 5 February at Trabant in Pioneer Square by 6pm

SHOW OPENS:
Thursday, 6 February

Trabant has a sign up sheet for your name, contact info, and the # of hearts you're making. When you bring your pieces in, please include name, title, and price (if for sale; consider Trabant's 40% cut). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include business cards in case people looking at your work want to see more of it. If you don't have business cards, ask us; we know a guy.

If you are not a Seattle local, you are still welcome to participate! Just message one of us with your name and address, and we will send the hearts to you! Once they're decorated, just send them back to us by February 5th, and we'll include you in the show!

Selling Your Work
Think making money with your art will make you a sell-out? You couldn't be more wrong! Selling your work creates space in your studio (and your brain) for new pieces, helps fund your process, and allows other people to enjoy the things you create.

Art Pricing
Don't know how to price your work? No problem! you can start by factoring in time, materials, and what we like to call the 'awesome' expense. You're the only one who could have created it, so you should be paid for your inherent awesomeness. We should all be able to make a living doing the things we love. Keep in mind that many of the places you show will take a commission if you sell a piece; make sure to factor their cut into your pricing to ensure you receive your intended price when your work sells.

Booking a Show
Not sure how to book an art show in Seattle? One of the best parts about making art is being able to exhibit it in public, and most businesses enjoy having art on their walls! We're happy to look at your portfolio and suggest like-minded artists and art spaces, introduce you and your work to the various community Art Walks, and help coordinate shows if we find a good fit.

Art Installation
Never installed your work before? We can help! We have plenty of experience installing art in a multitude of locations with pretty much any supplies you can think of. We'll teach you how to make your work professional, polished and show-ready.

Digital Design
If it's a show we've helped coordinate, we're happy to design a digital flyer for you so that you can promote your opening online!

We can take point on everything, so all you need to contribute is a space for the art to live, but if you'd like to be more involved in the process, we enjoy collaborating as well!

Art Installation
Don't have the time or experience to install art in your business? We can help! We have plenty of experience installing art in a multitude of locations with pretty much any supplies you can think of. We take care to make sure all artwork is installed in a professional and aesthetically pleasing manner.

Art Sales
We're happy to coordinate with artists directly if your business doesn't already have a system in place for art sales.

Digital Design
If it's a show we've helped coordinate, we're happy to design a digital flyer for your business so that you can promote the event online!
